    Bio

Anthony Valva graduated from Angelo State University in May of 2011 earning a degree in Journalism with  a minor in English and a specialization in Professional Writing and Editing. Originally a Computer Science major, Anthony decided that journalism was his calling and 3 years into his college career decided to change everything. Adding an additional 2 years to his education, Anthony immediately took the bull by the horns and stepped into a much larger world.

    Past

Before Anthony decided on computers as his career, he was an accomplished musician. Since the age of 13, he has played the Trumpet and was always at the top of his class. Besides being successful in the local band, he auditioned and usually won seats in the Region and Area concert as well as Jazz bands. He continued his love of music into his Freshman and Sophomore years in college but, due to time constraints, was forced to quit the bands.

Anthony not only played the trumpet, but also electric guitar and drums.

In the beginning of his college career Anthony believed that Computer Science was his calling. Although he loved computers and had owned one since the age of 5, programming and networking just didn’t please him. He set out to find his true calling. During this time of searching, he was constructing a brand new computer which he dubbed his own little “Death Star” (For at the time, it contained the most powerful chips on the market). While the construction was happening, he was blogging his progress. It was at this time that it dawned on him that chronicling this journal was more satisfying that programming ever was. He then started a very small video game/technology blog that he updated everyday about the goings ons in the industry. It then became clear to him that the life of a technology blogger/journalist was his calling. But before leaving the degree he became an intermediate programmer proficient in C++, Java, and HTML.

    Present

Anthony is now a freelancer and contributing editor for PC Gamer Magazine in San Francisco, CA. He currently lives in San Angelo, TX.
